People keep asking me how this pregnancy compares to the pregnancy with Ellie. So I decided to give it some thought. I realized that this pregnancy is almost exactly like Ellie. I am carrying the baby the same, I have the same freakin heartburn all of the time, and the same non-food cravings that I had with Ellie. Meaning, nothing really sounds good... or so I thought.
I have consumed my fair share of tequila over the years, and may even have a bit of a gag reflex towards it, even just thinking about drinking it. Well, apparently, pregnancy has cured that because all I want to drink is a big frozen mango margarita. To make matters worse, it seems that every place we go, they are having some sort of margarita special on their drink menu, or everyone around me orders a nice tall margarita. This is not helping.
One of my other big cravings is spicy food. I have continual heart burn to the point where I am taking Zantac twice a day, and supplementing my dairy intake with Tums as well. It still does not deter me from eating spicy food. The one thing I can't seem to get enough of is pickled jalepenos. I have been eating them on everything. They even taste good mixed in with tuna salad!
For those of you that know me, you know that I don't really drink beer anymore. I have probably already consumed a lifetime's worth of beer in my college days, and can't really stomach it anymore. However, at least during this pregnancy, Tom has still been able to brew. The smell doesn't make me sick, and I have even been able to put my heightened sense of smell and taste to good use, by helping him. I have been tasting his beers and giving my opinions on flavors, finishes, etc. for the next time to help improve the beer. The other night, Tom asked me to taste his Wit-D beer (traditional "white" beer from Germany with citrus and spice flavors). That beer tasted so good, that I thought I was going to have to drink the entire glass. Something is seriously wrong with me. :)
Other then that, my pregnancy has been pretty much the same as before - except the inability to sit on the couch all night instead of chasing after a 2 almost 3 year old. Thanks for asking.
