Copper Triangle

A couple of weekends ago the family spent the weekend in Copper. Tom decided that he wanted to do the Copper Triangle bike race, so we used it as an excuse to get out of the City and up to the mountains for the weekend. This, by far, was Tom's most adventurous bike ride yet. The course is 78 miles, and you climb almost 6,000 vertical feet over the course of the ride. The worst and most grueling part? The very end....18 miles of pure hell up Vail Pass between Vail and Copper Mtns. Here is the course map and the elevation profile of the ride.

Here is a picture of Tom right at the start of the uphill battle with Vail Pass

Here is a picture of Tom - after he finished the race.... Ellie and I were kind enough to save him a seat at our table on the patio where we were having lunch, as well as some of our leftover food. We were able to get a table on a patio right by the finish line. It was a great spot. Tom had a good time, and wasn't too terribly sore the next day. I am sure he will plan on doing this one again next year.

What did Ellie and I do during this? Well we spent most of the day in Breckenridge walking around, and visiting toy stores and the like. We ventured back to Copper, where we played on the playground, and then went for a ride in the bumper boats. Imagine a bumper car but on water, and with a squirt gun on the front. Ellie had a great time.

Here is a picture of us on the bumper boats. I have got to get better at this self portrait thing.

Here is a picture of Ellie in the condo on Friday night. She is watching The Little Einsteins, and patting away to get Rocket to take off.
